Raptor Hike

Description

Each fall, hawks, falcons, and other raptors soar overhead as they make their incredible journey south. Join a naturalist guide for a hike up the hill, where you'll watch the skies and look for these powerful birds riding the wind. Along the way, you’ll learn how to spot different raptor species, explore the amazing science behind their migration, and hear about the challenges they face on their long flight. You’ll also discover simple ways people of all ages can help protect these birds and the habitats they rely on.

Instructions

Participants will meet outside, in front of the Trailside Museum, located at Blue Hills Trailside Museum, 1904 Canton Ave, Milton, MA 02186. We will learn on the trail.

Dress appropriately for a hike and make sure to bring water. Trails are medium grade and can have parts that are steeper or have uneven terrain. Bring binoculars.

All children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the program.

Museum admission is included in the program fee. Participants are welcome to explore the museum after the program has ended.
