Description
We often learn to identify trees by their leaf shapes, but after the leaves fall, we look for clues elsewhere. Learn how to identify our local trees by twigs, bark, habitat, and other unique characteristics. We will start indoors looking at twigs, then head outside for a walk observing and identifying deciduous trees such as shagbark and bitternut hickories and sugar, red, and striped maples. We'll also look at our most common evergreen species, white pine and hemlock.
