Description
Immerse yourself in a full year of local natural history. With a skilled Mass Audubon naturalist as your guide, experience the cycle of the seasons at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary and gain extensive natural history knowledge-all while receiving the many benefits of spending time outdoors. Each month, you will focus on a special topic, natural community, or seasonal phenomenon. In autumn, learn about migrating hawks and monarch butterflies, squirrels and chipmunks, and the autumn forest and trees. As the temperatures drop, explore winter birds at the feeders and how to attract them, the winter forest, tracks, tunnels and signs of wildlife, and winter raptors and other birds that can be found in the fields. During spring, we'll study woodcocks, vernal pools, and birds at the peak of migration. Finally, spend the summer delving into wetlands and macroinvertebrates of the pond, a twilight walk, and nighthawks along with an end of the year potluck dinner.
