February Vacation Days: Winter Adaptations

Description

Give your child a school vacation day outdoors, exploring winter through games, hikes, and crafts at Arcadia.

Take a closer look at adaptations, the behaviors and body features that let plants and animals survive a New England winter. Kids run science experiments on thermal insulation to feel for themselves how fur and fat hold in heat, then follow the trails to find local plants and wildlife putting those same strategies to work. Expect a camp-style day, with tucked-away corners of the sanctuary making excellent spots for trail games and new friendships along the way.

Everyone spends as much of the day outdoors as the weather allows.
