Winter Bird Walk

Description

Surprisingly, winter is an excellent season to get to know your local birds. Fewer species are around, the trees are bare, and the birds that stay put are far easier to see and hear.

Start at the Arcadia feeders, which draw a wide variety of birds into full view of the Visitor Center window and the boardwalk, then walk the trails through several different habitats to look for species that keep to the woods and fields. Along the way, you will build the skills to tell birds apart by sight, sound, and behavior.

Knowing who's spending the winter here helps connects how bird populations shift with the season, and what you can do to help.
