Turtle Time with Peeta the Box Turtle

Description

Do turtles have teeth? Where do they lay their eggs? How many species live in Massachusetts? Turtle Time answers all of these questions and more with games, crafts, real turtle shells to touch, and a visit with Peeta, Arcadia's resident Ornate Box Turtle.

Kids will play a survival game where they act like a turtle searching for worms, make a turtle-themed craft to take home, and get an up-close look at Peeta's adaptations, diet, and the journey that brought her to the sanctuary.

The program also explores Mass Audubon's work rescuing cold-stunned sea turtles on the Massachusetts coast, connecting the local happenings to the much bigger picture of turtle conservation.
