Moose Hill has shared the magic of turning sap into syrup with the community for over 45 years! Join us to experience the sugaring process from tree to table and to learn how sugaring has evolved from Native American to colonial to our own current procedures. This 90-minute outdoor, guided tour includes meeting people portraying characters from the past as they go about their daily tasks, including sugaring. Conclude your tour at our operational sugar house and enjoy a taste of the final product.
After your tour, return to the Visitor Center for additional self-guided activities, including a children's craft table, a sugaring quiz board, a pictorial look back at Moose Hill's sugaring past, and hot chocolate. Pancakes with syrup, "sap" dogs (hotdogs cooked in maple sap), maple-sugar dusted popcorn, and more delicious food items will be available for a small additional fee at the Visitor Center. Learn about future Moose Hill programs and other Mass Audubon opportunities.
Try your luck and enter our maple basket raffle. Winners will be drawn and notified in early April.
This program often sells out! Guarantee a spot in this popular event and save money by registering ahead of time. Please be sure of your date and time before completeing your registration. Due to the popularity of this program, it fills quickly and we may not be able to switch days or time slots, or add additional people at the last minute. The $10 early bird rate ends at 4 pm the day before each event date; online registration will no longer be available after that time. Registration the day of the event is only by phone beginning at 9 am, if space is available, and is $12 per person ages 4 and up. Event fees are nonrefundable.
Children age three and younger are free, as the program is not geared for this age level; however, they are still more than welcomed to attend. Remember, do not include children age three or younger in your on-line registration or you will be charged.
Once you register online, you will receive an automatic confirmation email from Mass Audubon with extra information as an embedded PDF. This is the only reminder you will receive, so be sure to make a note of your tour date and time. Of course, you can still call or mail in a registration and we will email you the confirmation.
When registering online, please click on Register Now to see which time slots are available. You will need to register for a specific time slot.
Just a quick note about this outdoor guided tour - March weather can be quite variable here in New England. Trails may have snow, ice, slush, mud or be dry. Temperatures can range from below freezing to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to plan the proper footwear and outdoor clothing to enjoy your time outside!

Our Maple Sugaring Weekends are a fundraising event for Moose Hill. Your ticket price provides critical support for our education and conservation programs and is nonrefundable. We run rain, light snow, or shine. Dress for the weather; good boots are a must as trails may be muddy, snowy, slightly icy, or dry. Your email confirmation will have an embedded PDF of additional information about the event. During this event, trails to the boardwalk, bluffs, and fire tower are closed to non-event visitors; however, the rest of our trail system is open for general visitation. We thank you for your support!
