Learn why wetlands are important in this hands-on program. Visit the marsh, where you will search for herons, turtles and frogs, and explore the life of underwater creatures with nets and buckets. Feel the spongy stalks of the arrow arum plant and try to find the carnivorous bladderwort. You will also take a short hike to the vernal pool, a body of water that can appear and disappear throughout the year. See where salamanders and frogs start their lives and take an up-close peak at the other creatures living here, such as caddisflies in their 'log cabin homes' and brightly colored fairy shrimp.
