Habitat Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary in Belmont will feature a curated collection from Maine-based photographer Ashley Allen during the months of July and August.
About the Artist
Ashley Allen is a photographer based in Maine whose work is inspired by the people, landscapes, and quiet moments that define New England. Working across fine art, portraiture, commercial, and wedding photography, she is drawn to photography's ability to capture stories, no matter the subject. While travel has taken her to destinations such as Kenya and Italy, her strongest creative influence remains the coastlines, small towns, and communities of her home region.
A graduate of the Photography program at Endicott College, Ashley developed her artistic voice through a blend of creative practice and professional experience. During her time at Endicott, she explored photography through a range of internships, including work on a Maine gubernatorial campaign, as a photojournalist for Maine’s Kennebec Journal, as a marketing specialist for Goodwill Northern New England, and assisting with high-end commercial photography projects. These experiences strengthened her appreciation for storytelling in all its forms and continue to inform her work today. As an emerging artist and creative professional, Ashley is always eager to connect with new people, collaborate on meaningful projects, and use photography to build relationships and share stories.
About the Exhibition
This collection features fine art photography centered on the landscapes, coastlines, and flora of New England. The majority of the work focuses on the region’s natural beauty, seasonal changes, and iconic coastal environments, as well as studio-based projects that explore the forms, textures, and details of plant life through a fine-art lens.
Also included is a selection of photographs created in Kenya, featuring wildlife, landscapes, and scenes that reflect the country's diverse natural environments. Together, the collection highlights an ongoing interest in nature, place, and visual storytelling through both documentary and artistic approaches. All works are presented as archival Epson pigment prints on premium matte and luster papers.
