Trails at Flat Rock
This six-mile trail system traverses the sanctuary and leads you through a number of habitats including rocky ledges, hemlock groves, dry upland forest, and wetlands. Look for signs of deer, fox, and coyote along the trails.
This sanctuary uses a blue/yellow trail marking system. Blue circle trail markers lead away from the parking lot; yellow circle trail markers lead back to the parking lot.
Link to Pipeline Path
Take Link Path across the stream and powerlines to Flat Rock Road Trail. At the bald, enjoy the view of the hills and the reservoir. From here you can continue toward the hemlock grove and immerse yourself in this rich evergreen setting. Follow Scott Road Trail to Pipeline Path where you’ll find hardwood and beech forests, mountain laurel, ferns, and wild blueberries. In spring, listen for songbirds and watch for wildflowers. In fall and winter, search for signs of wildlife.
