Trails at Burncoat Pond

With 2 miles of moderate-to-rugged trails, the sanctuary offers visitors an opportunity for peaceful walks—passing through fields, traversing hardwood-white pine forests, skirting wetlands, crossing over streams, and ending at the pond. Visitors can include longer walks oy visiting the Midstate Trail as well as the adjacent Greater Worcester Land Trust and Sibley Farm conservation area.

Trail Descriptions

Beaver Pond Trail

This short-side trail brings you to the edge of a small pond. If you approach quietly, you may see a Great Blue Heron, beaver, or possibly an otter.

Laurel Loop Trail
A connector trail off the Midstate leads you to this loop which winds through an open forest with an extensive understory of mountain laurel. Look for signs of deer and turkey.

Flat Rock Trail

This trail follows an old woods road and then makes a short loop to a large boulder that offers an impressive view of the complete northern cove of Burncoat Pond.
