11:00 am-1:00 pm

Explore a new area for children to play in nature alongside neighbors and community at the grand opening of Arcadia’s new Nature Play area on Saturday, November 15.

Drop in any time between 11:00 am-1:00 pm to explore outdoors, play lawn games, and make arts and crafts. Pack a picnic and bring a friend to make the most of the fall weekend. At 11:30 am, a ceremonial “vine cutting” will signify the official opening of the space, designed to inspire wonder, creativity, and connection to the natural world.

About Nature Play Areas

Sadly, children today are spending less time outdoors than any generation before them—but we’re here to change that. By encouraging free play with natural materials, children can practice problem solving, nature study, and creative design, all while having fun.

At Arcadia’s Nature Play Area, conveniently located a short walk from the Nature Center and the parking lot, you’ll find:

  • A fort made of sustainable materials to play in
  • Everything you need to build a fairy home
  • Opportunities to practice balance and coordination on the stump jump
  • A grounded sunken rowboat where seafaring fantasies and adventures unfold
  • A crow’s nest to climb up in to get a bird’s eye view
  • Picnic tables in the shade, perfect for snack time and watching the fun unfold.

Arcadia’s Nature Play Area joins a network of similar outdoor playgrounds at 14 wildlife sanctuaries throughout the state.

Let's Play!

Winter will be here before you know it, so take advantage of every opportunity to play outside before it gets too cold. Invite your friends and family, pack a picnic, and explore the great outdoors with Arcadia this fall.
