Wachusett Meadow Nature Day Camp | Staff
Camp Director – Elizabeth Broughton
Before coming to Wachusett Meadow Day Camp, Elizabeth was a natural history guide at Mass Audubon’s Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Worcester. She holds a bachelor of science in microbiology and was a stay-at-home mom for many years while raising her four children. A love of all things nature and her commitment to educate people of all ages and abilities are what inspire Elizabeth in her role as Camp Director.
Assistant Camp Director – Lisa Mattson
Lisa began her Mass Audubon career in 1995 and has been part of the Wachusett Meadow Day Camp team since 2002. She brings broad administrative and organizational skills, attention to safety, and creativity and enthusiasm to our camp program. Outside of camp, Lisa serves as the office manager for Mass Audubon's Central Sanctuaries. She also assists with teaching a wide variety of weekend natural history programs.
Our Camp Staff
Camp staff are carefully selected for their enthusiasm, caring attitude toward children, and ability to interact with youth in an outdoor setting. All undergo background checks and participate in a pre-camp training that includes first aid and CPR certification.
Senior Counselors are college age or older, most studying or specializing in the fields of science or education. Wachusett Meadow Naturalists and specialty instructors bring expertise to specific camps. This specialized team works to create a safe atmosphere for all campers.
