Teach your class the important role mushrooms play in wildlife, medicine, and food through an exciting search for fungi with a Joppa Flats Naturalist. Find mushrooms in the mulch, fungi on the forest floor, and lichen on fallen logs. Students will learn how to identify and compare different types of fungi using simple visuals, group role-plays, and a seasonal scavenger hunt for the fall. Instructors will explain how to handle wild fungi safely and how to make a spore print in the classroom.
