Discover how differences among individuals help species survive and thrive within a population, all within your classroom! Students begin with a brief discussion on the role of variation in a population, then put their learning into action with a hands-on bird beak game and a unique encounter with a live animal ambassador. Using evidence from their experience, students will construct an explanation of how variation in characteristics is advantageous to a population and build arguments that animals have external structures to support their survival.
