Wildwood Camp: Teen Adventure Trip - Backpacking the Wild Whites

Description

Hike across beautiful ridgelines and valleys in the White Mountains' Pemigewasset Wilderness. On this beginner backpacking trip, we'll learn the basics of backpacking on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail, while taking in gorgeous views of New England.

This itinerary includes five days and four nights of backpacking, plus day hikes. Participants can expect to carry an internal frame pack weighing 35-45 pounds while traveling up to four miles per day over rough and steep terrain. It is important to have proper hiking boots that have been broken in.

Teen Adventure Trips begin with a half-day of team-building and orientation at Wildwood Camp. Groups then travel to destinations around the Northeast. Along the way, they'll participate in a variety of outdoor adventures, learn the basics of Leave No Trace camping and trekking, and may meet with conservation professionals to participate in hands on environmental study or service. Participants practice hands-on skills in conservation and outdoor living, and develop a knowledge of the region's natural history.

Wildwood Camp is committed to providing a joyful and inclusive experience for all campers. Groups are small with two leaders and 5-8 teens. Trek campers will be assigned in 3+ person tents based on their requests and conversations with staff. There may be tent groups that are mixed gender based on these requests. If you have any requests or concerns for your child, please reach out to us at [email protected].
