Wildwood Camp: Teen Adventure Trip - Adirondack Adventures

Description

Join us for a remarkable journey through time as we paddle through the confluence of two great bodies of water, Lake George and Lake Champlain. This trip begins along the shores of Lake George, where a hike along the highlands reveals spectacular views for which this Queen of the American Lakes is known. From here we'll journey northward along the La Chute River to Fort Ticonderoga, a premier local site of historical significance during the Revolutionary War. Next, we will paddle to the southern end of Lake Champlain, where we'll meet with a local expert who will share the history of Mt. Pleasant and East Creek, which empties into this famous lake. Good times swimming, camping, and cooking over the fire will round out this trek and leave you in awe of both the natural and cultural history of the eastern Adirondacks!

This itinerary includes an intermediate level canoe trek with portages of up to one mile. Additionally this itinerary includes three days & two nights of backpacking. Participants can expect to carry an internal frame pack weighing 30-40 pounds while traveling up to nine miles per day.

Wildwood's one-week long trips are in-depth adventures exploring the natural places of New England. Perfect for teens looking to progress to more advanced programs. These trips require a high level of physical fitness and are recommended for teens entering grades 9-10 with previous adventure trip experience.

Wildwood Camp is committed to providing a joyful and inclusive experience for all campers. Groups are small with two leaders and 5-8 teens. Trek campers will be assigned in 3+ person tents based on their requests and conversations with staff. There may be tent groups that are mixed gender based on these requests. If you have any requests or concerns for your child, please reach out to us at [email protected].
