Wildwood Camp: Teen Adventure Trip - Cruisin' on Champlain

Description

Camp, hike, and boat through the beauty of New England's largest body of freshwater, Lake Champlain, and the surrounding mountains. We'll begin the trip by taking in breathtaking views of Vermont's glacial carved topography from atop the Green Mountains. Next, we'll spend time exploring the unique freshwater ecology of Lake Champlain while rowing and camping along the beaches and islands that dot the landscape.

The Green Mountains and Lake Champlain can be rugged. We will be hiking up to 8 miles on trails that may have steep grades and mild exposure; terrain will be rocky and uneven, and we may row or paddle several miles in a day as well. Participants should know how to swim. No other experience is necessary, but participants should be in good physical condition.

Teen Adventure Trips focus on developing a love of the outdoors. Trips begin with a half-day of team-building and orientation at Wildwood Camp. Groups then travel to destinations around the Northeast. Along the way, they'll participate in a variety of outdoor adventures, learn the basics of Leave No Trace camping and trekking, and may meet with conservation professionals to participate in hands on environmental study or service. Participants practice outdoor living, and develop a knowledge of the region's natural history.

Wildwood Camp is committed to providing a joyful and inclusive experience for all campers. Groups are small with two leaders and 5-9 teens. Trek campers will be assigned in 3+ person tents based on their requests and conversations with staff. There may be tent groups that are mixed gender based on these requests. If you have any requests or concerns for your child, please reach out to us at [email protected].
