Wildwood Camp: Residential Camp - Fossey Unit - Girls

Description

At Wildwood, campers dive into a world of exploration, independence, friendship and fun, all in a supportive and noncompetitive environment that celebrates each child's unique spark.

Days at Wildwood kick off with Nature Groups (NGs), where campers become nature detectives as they explore fields, forests, and wetlands. From tracking mammals to observing insects and birds up close, every morning is a hands-on adventure in the stunning nature surrounding Hubbard Pond. During afternoon Discovery Groups (DGs), campers select from a variety of creative, active, and skill-building activities. Whether it's crafting, canoeing, archery, or theater, there's something new to try. Later in the day, campers drive their own adventures during Open Activity Time (OATs), choosing from informal activities offered around camp. It's a chance to follow their curiosity, be independent, bond with friends, and make memories that last.

Campers stay in cozy units (3-4 dwellings), forming tight-knit residential communities. Each adirondack cabin or platform tent houses 6-8 campers with a dedicated counselor and a unit leader for extra support. Every unit has a communal firepit, toilets, outdoor sinks, and a centrally located shower house just down the path.

Fossey and Thoreau campers are ages 11-12, entering grades 6-7. These age-specific groups encourage campers to connect with peers and build confidence within the larger Wildwood community.

Wildwood Camp is committed to providing a joyful and inclusive experience for all campers. Generally our units are single-gender camper groups. If you have any questions or concerns about your camper's sleeping assignment based on their gender identity, medical needs, or any other reason, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We'll work with you to ensure your camper is in the spot that feels right for them.
