Description
The surface of the water hides more than it reveals. Glare, waves, and movement conspire to keep the underwater world invisible. A bathyscope cuts through all of that, placing a clear window directly into the water so you can see the fish, invertebrates, and algae going about their lives in the shallows.
On this guided program at Duxbury Beach, learn to use this simple but revelatory tool and observe marine life that would otherwise be completely hidden from view. It's one of the most direct ways to encounter the living community beneath the surface—no snorkel or wetsuit required.
Mass Audubon is grateful for the generosity of the Duxbury Beach Reservation Inc. for funding this program and for their service and dedication to protecting the critical resource we know as Duxbury Beach.
