Description
Horseshoe crabs have an incredible story. They've been roaming the ocean floor for more than 450 million years, and they're more closely related to spiders and scorpions than to true crabs.
On this guided exploration at Duxbury Beach, search for horseshoe crabs along the shoreline and learn what makes these ancient animals so unlike anything else alive today. Discover their ecological importance as a keystone food source for migratory shorebirds and how their survival is tied to the health of the entire coastal ecosystem.
Mass Audubon is grateful for the generosity of the Duxbury Beach Reservation Inc. for funding this program and for their service and dedication to protecting the critical resource we know as Duxbury Beach.
