Description
Most beachgoers avoid the mudflats. That's exactly why they're worth visiting! At low tide, this hidden habitat teems with life—snails, clams, crabs, and invertebrates that feed entire food webs while most visitors are busy with the surf.
On this guided exploration, head out onto the mudflats, learn to identify common species, and discover how these rich, murky ecosystems function as essential feeding grounds for marine animals, migratory birds, and more. Come prepared to get muddy—that's part of the fun.
Mass Audubon is grateful for the generosity of the Duxbury Beach Reservation Inc. for funding this program and for their service and dedication to protecting the critical resource we know as Duxbury Beach.
