Get Crabby at Duxbury Beach

Description

With more than 4,500 crab species roaming the world's oceans, you might be surprised to discover just how many call Duxbury Bay home. On this guided beach exploration, search for live crabs in tidepools, rocky areas, the wrack line, and shallow waters—encountering green crabs, rock crabs, spider crabs, and hermit crabs up close and in their natural habitat.

Naturalists explain crab behaviors, adaptations, and ecological roles as you explore the shoreline, making this a genuinely eye-opening look at creatures that most beachgoers walk right past.

Mass Audubon is grateful for the generosity of the Duxbury Beach Reservation Inc. for funding this program and for their service and dedication to protecting the critical resource we know as Duxbury Beach.
