Description
What does it mean to be an organizer? How can I choose an issue to organize around? What are some tools and strategies for planning an effective grassroots campaign? We will discuss these questions and more. This workshop will include a guest presentation from Marissa Zampino, Community Organizer at the Mystic River Watershed Association. It is open to youth and anyone who works with youth, both within and outside of Mass Audubon!
The Youth Climate Organizing Series is a four-part monthly series on climate and environmental justice organizing. Through presentations, interactive discussions, and conversations with guest speakers, we will consider the unique role that youth have played, both historically and today, in grassroots efforts such as the climate justice movement. We will learn about some of the key environmental challenges that Massachusetts currently faces, the work that's happening to address them, and how youth can get involved. Finally, we will brainstorm ways to plan our own grassroots campaigns, engage meaningfully with our communities, and become more effective organizers. This series is open to any youth (and folks who work with youth!) who are interested in learning more about environmental advocacy from a justice-focused and community-oriented perspective.
