Nature Poetry Readings

Description

Gather for a poetry reading featuring local writers that explore our complex and intimate relationship with the natural world, nature as solace and nourishment, and environments under threat from habitat loss and climate change. In the spirit of eco-poetry, these are poems that comfort, but also that urge and awaken, emphasizing the human-nature connection. After the poets share their works, there will be time for comments and questions. We will meet indoors and may head outside if conditions permit.

Poets: Jennifer Markell, David Miller, and Scott Ruescher. Scott Ruescher recently released Above the Fold, a new poetry collection exploring the histories of seemingly mundane places and the stories of those who live there. At the core of these poems is an inquisitive love of adventure, a sympathetic and amused curiosity about places and people, and an urge to use the imagination, in a heightened state of verbal awareness, to salvage experience.
