Description
The Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary has been a crown jewel in Mass Audubon's statewide conservation network for 74 years. The 1,982-acre sanctuary features diverse habitats, including forests, meadows, wetlands, and eskers. Visitors of all ages enjoy looking for beavers, turtles, hawks, bluebirds, and more. A farmhouse built in 1765 hosts a welcome center, and visitors love exploring the century-old rock grotto and stone bridge. Join us for a talk on the natural and cultural history of this unique and treasured icon of the North Shore.
This program is part of Trails & Sails, a 16-day series of free events (September 13 to September 28) organized by the Essex National Heritage Area, celebrating the natural and cultural treasures of Essex County. Explore and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us!
