Description
Belle Isle Marsh in winter is a different world from its summer self: quieter, crisper, and packed with ducks, hawks, and finches that make the sightings worth bundling up for. Walk the flat trails with a Boston Nature Center naturalist, scanning the marsh for Bald Eagles overhead and waterfowl in the channels below, with a slight climb through the meadow offering expansive views.
Winter finches and sparrows add surprising variety to the mix, making this coastal reserve one of the top winter birding destinations in the city.

Dress warmly and bring a water bottle. There is usually a porta-potty in the parking lot.
Meet in the main parking lot by the bird feeders at the Belle Isle Marsh main entrance, 1399 Bennington St., Boston, MA 02128. The site is a short 6-minute walk from Suffolk Downs Blue Line station, or there is ample parking at the main entrance.
