Description
Discover birds thriving in this unique urban habitat—a favorite stopover for both resident species and those passing through on migration. A BNC naturalist will guide you in spotting and identifying birds by their field marks, songs, and behaviors. Whether you're picking up binoculars for the first time or adding to your life list, you'll learn techniques that sharpen your birding skills.
The trails are mostly flat and easy to navigate, though the search for Bobolinks involves a half-mile hill climb that's well worth the effort.
Target birds include Blue & Black-Crowned Night Herons; Bobolink; Merlin; Orchard Oriole; Pileated Woodpecker; Red-Shouldered Hawk; Rose-Breasted Grosbeak; Sora; Scarlet Tanager; Snowy Egret; Swamp Sparrow; Ruby-Throated Hummingbird; Tree, Rough-Winged, & Barn Swallows; Virginia Rail; or Yellow-Throated Vireo.
