Birding in Place

Description

Bird-a-thon is Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary's largest community fundraiser that makes possible the protection of resilient, bird-friendly landscapes, increasing access to nature and environmental education, and mobilizing to fight climate change in the Valley. This year's 24 hours of birding is from 6pm on Friday, May 10 to 6pm on Saturday, May 11. Join us to celebrate the start of Bird-a-thon with Birding in Place, which is designed for those whose identities have been historically excluded from nature and conservation efforts, especially those with disabilities and who have backgrounds or identities that cause them to feel unsafe outdoors. Everyone is welcome, and you can stay for as long or as little as you want. We will be birding at the end of the All Person's Trail in a wheelchair-accessible location next to the Visitor Center with accessible restrooms. Chairs will be available. We will keep track of how many species of birds we can observe from this area and add our observations to the Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary Bird-a-thon list to see who can observe more than other Mass Audubon Wildlife Sanctuaries. We are working to win the Sitting Duck Cup.

Donations to Bird-a-thon will be welcome. Funds raised will support Arcadia and stay in western Mass.
