Camp Sliding Scale Pricing

A sliding scale pricing structure makes day camp affordable for every family by removing financial barriers and expanding access to camp for families in an easy, dependable, and confidential process.

Sliding scale pricing is a key part of Mass Audubon’s commitment to ensuring that every family can give their child the opportunity to experience the friendships, community, confidence, and connection to nature that takes place at Mass Audubon summer camps.

How It Works

With the sliding scale structure, every family enrolls for camp at a tuition rate based on their annual gross income. At registration, simply select the price that best fits your family’s income tier. The system will calculate the balance due based on your selection and you will be asked to pay a deposit at the time of registration; you have until May 15 to pay your balance in full.

At the second stage of registration, when we request medical and other information about your camper securely via CampDoc, a special section allows for the upload of income verification documents such as tax returns, pay stubs, or alternative forms of income verification. (Note that registrants at Tier 5 are not required to submit income verification.)

Camp administrative staff with Personal Information Protection (PIP) training will privately review any provided income verification documents and confirm or adjust the tiered rate based on your reported adjusted gross income.

Income Tier Eligibility

When determining the appropriate sliding scale pricing tier for your family, we take into account gross family income and household size. Relevant income includes the income of the parent(s) or caregiver(s) living with the child; child support is not considered relevant income for determining sliding scale tier eligibility. Household size refers to all of the family members living with the child, including parents or legal guardians and their children/dependents, including the camper being registered.

Additional Financial Aid & Payment Plans

If cost is still a barrier under the sliding scale structure, additional financial assistance is also available in the form of scholarships, thanks to the generous support of our community. Payment plans can also be arranged. Please contact the camp director for further information.

Support Access to Camp for All

Sliding scale pricing ensures that every family can afford to give their child the opportunity to experience the friendships, community, confidence, and connection to nature that takes place at Mass Audubon summer camps, but the program is only possible with the support of generous donors from our camp community.

If you or a young camper in your life had a special experience at a Mass Audubon camp and you want to share the gift of nature with even more children and families, please consider donating today.
