Wildwood units are designed to create a peer-focused community.
Dillard girls: ages 13-14, entering grades 8-9 in the fall
Abbey boys: ages 13-14, entering grades 8-9 in the fall
Campers live in platform tents within a unit - a cluster of 4 tents. A counselor sleeps in each tent with 4-7 campers. A unit leader is available to support campers and staff in each unit. Each unit has toilet facilities nearby and centrally located showers just down the path.
At Wildwood, the environment is fun and noncompetitive: each camper is an important part of the community and is valued and respected for their interests and contributions.
When campers arrive at Wildwood, they participate in a Nature Groups (NGs) activity each morning, allowing time to discover field, forest, and wetland habitats and the intriguing behaviors of birds, insects, mammals, invertebrates, and more through hands-on investigation. In the afternoon, campers will choose from a variety of Discovery Group (DG) activities, so every day brings new experiences. Later in the day during Open Activity Time (OATs), campers can choose from a number of informal activities on the spot. Every day, campers have opportunities to grow in independence with the support of the entire Wildwood community.
