Which birds can you find this summer? Along our coasts, wading birds and shorebirds can challenge even the most experienced birdwatchers. Puffins are easier to distinguish but a bit further north. Fledglings and nestlings are busy eating, growing, and foraging-possibly right outside your window. You also might catch glimpses of swifts, swallows, nighthawks, and whippoorwills as they zip through the sky. To cap an already exciting season of birding, late summer is also the ideal time to find migrating hawks. Each week, we'll review the lives of captivating summer birds, including tips for finding and identifying them. Take a break from the sun and hone your skills in these online programs.
