Don't worry, you're not expected to be able to identify that far away flash of color by yourself; there are plenty of tools at a birder's disposal available to help, and believe it or not, it's all part of the fun! Binoculars and scopes can help bring an image into focus, while field guides and apps help to narrow your identification conclusions. Plus, you'll discover the supportive birding communities within Mass Audubon and in your area who share the same interest and curiosity as you do.
