Have you ever wondered what wild mammals are living in your neighborhood? Learn to interpret the subtle and sometimes glaring clues creatures leave behind, including tracks, chews, scat, and more. Over two evenings online, you'll gain the skills to enhance your walks and hikes with a greater awareness of the wildlife around you. An optional but fun homework session between classes invites you to collect and share your own observations. The second class will focus on practicing the principles of tracking as we work through exercises to link the evidence together and figure out what animal you're following.
We'll highlight a variety of mammals including American Beaver, Eastern Coyote, Raccoon, and Fisher, in addition to the clues they leave for us to find across the Massachusetts landscape.
Corresponding in-person programs will be offered at many Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuaries, perfect for practicing the lessons learned here in the field. See our program catalog for more info.
You will receive the Microsoft Teams Link to log into the program in your confirmation. An email reminder will also be sent to you 24 hours before program start.
