Explore Sandy Neck for this State-threatened brackish water turtle. Check nesting habitat for large females digging nests and laying eggs and learn about local conservation efforts to protect nests. With a Mass Audubon naturalist and a Sandy Neck park ranger as guides, investigate areas closed to the public where terrapin turtles lay their eggs and learn how they make their homes in the marsh. Watch as the quarter-sized newborns emerge from the nest and make the treacherous journey from their sandy dune nests to the safety of the marsh. This tour includes walking in soft sand.
