Enjoy birds by sight and sound in company with other nature lovers. Slow birding is about getting to know the birds in a particular spot, sitting and staying put, or walking slowly and mindfully, paying close attention to the natural world around us.
Beginners to birding are strongly encouraged, and all levels are welcome!
Meet at Joppa Flats Education Center.
Dress to be outdoors, staying in one spot. Pack extra layers, a hat, and water. You will be able to spend time either inside the building, or outside in the yard as suits you.
Bring binoculars and a field guide to birds if you have them, but they are not required, and we also have binoculars to lend.
This is a Big Sit style event, designed to be accessible to a broad variety of people. No hiking is involved, and we will remain at Joppa the entire time. The building will be open if you need to warm up, or bird from indoors, and accessible restrooms are available.
Mass Audubon Cancellation Policy: If you wish to withdraw less than seven days prior to the program, refunds cannot be issued. If we cancel the program, you will be refunded in full.
