Skinner State Park sits within the Mount Holyoke range and is home to a variety of birds. Early June is peak nesting season for migratory songbirds and they will be singing territorial songs and showing bright breeding colors. Along an auto road we'll stop and take short walks looking for target birds including Cerulean and Worm-eating warblers. On our way back to Joppa Flats we'll stop into Westover Airforce Base and look for grassland specialists such as Grasshopper Sparrow and Upland Sandpiper.

Instructions and Directions:

Meet at Joppa Flats for van transportation. Dress for the weather, protect yourself from the sun and biting insects. We'll stop and walk along several places, including the summit. The road is paved, but steep in places. Bathrooms are available. Bring a picnic lunch, binoculars, a field guide, snacks, and refillable water bottle.

Mass Audubon requires participants and leaders to wear masks while in vehicles.
