Songbirds are able to find food in the winter and they have many ways to survive the cold, snow, and wind. We will look and listen for birds, do some experiments related to insulation, and enjoy other outdoor activities.

Birds, land mammals, and marine mammals all have adapted special ways to handle winter. We'll visit Salisbury Beach State Reservation to look for raptors, find harbor seals on the beach, and look for animal tracks in the sand.

In early spring, frogs and toads are calling, and songbirds are singing again. Let's explore outdoors and find evidence that the birds are back, and life has returned to the vernal pools.
Joppa Flats will provide all field gear and equipment. This is not a drop-off class; all children must be accompanied by at least one adult. All adults are expected to participate in the program.
Prior to the program, you will receive an email with information on where to meet, parking and facilities details, driving directions and other guidelines.
Mass Audubon Cancellation Policy: If you wish to withdraw less than seven days prior to the program, refunds cannot be issued. If we cancel the program, you will be refunded in full.
