In early April, Massachusetts' North Shore is a wonderful place to observe ducks. Most of the species that have wintered here are still present, and many early migrants have returned to our area. We could see approximately 20 species of ducks, geese, and swans in ths program! We'll bird the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge coastline, estuary, and freshwater impoundments for a variety of waterfowl, including Northern Pintail, Long-tailed Duck, Green-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, and American Wigeon, to name just a few.

Instructions and Directions:

Meet at Joppa Flats Education Center. From there we will travel by Mass Audubon vans and carpool.

Mass Audubon and the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge encourage carpooling to reduce the number of vehicles. Participants who choose not to carpool by driving without at least one passenger will be surcharged $5.00.

Bring binoculars, a field guide to birds, and a scope if you have one. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and terrain.

Masks are required in Mass Audubon vehicles. Masks indoors are optional as long as a county is noted as having moderate or low levels of transmission; however, they are required if county transmission levels are high.

Mass Audubon cancellation policy: If you wish to withdraw less than seven days prior to the program, refunds cannot be issued. If Mass Audubon cancels the program, you will receive a refund in full.

Registration is required.
