Red-tailed hawks have keen eyes and curious minds, and can soar longer distances. Our Red-tailed Hawk group is the name for our homeschool class for students ages 6-8 years old. Our classes introduce homeschool students to basic ecology while nurturing an appreciation for and understanding of the natural world.

This season we will be spending each class learning about different groups of living thing that can be found both all around and world and right here at the Sanctuary. Each class we will get to know each group's special characteristics and head out to the fields, forests, and wetlands of the Sanctuary to find and observe (and sometime carefully catch) real life examples. On the last day, all of our homeschool groups will participate in a special challenge called a 'Bioblitz' to try and find all of the living things in one spot!

April 26: Diversity of Life Under a Log - How and Why We Categorize Living Things

May 3: Reptiles and Amphibians of the Sanctuary

May 10: How Birds of a Feather Get Grouped Together

May 17: Massachusetts Mammals Big and Small

May 24: Insect Orders - Ant Lions, Tiger Swallowtails, and Wooly Bears, Oh My!

May 31: Wild Wetland Bioblitz

Make-up date is June 7th if needed should class be canceled due to weather. Please hold this date as well!
