Joy Takes Flight: A Celebration of Art, Music, and Conservation at Boston Nature Center

Special Event: Wednesday, October 1, 2025

6:30-8:00 pm

Boston Nature Center’s Solar Meadow transforms into a concert venue for one night only.

In partnership with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Public Art Triennial, this free event brings together art, music, and conservation.

Boston Symphony Orchestra musicians will present a string quartet performance of Haydn’s “The Lark”. Following the performance, Lyra Brennan (director of Mass Audubon’s Coastal Waterbird Program) will share her team’s inspiring success, in partnership with federal, state, and local agencies, in bringing Piping Plovers back from the brink of extinction in Massachusetts.

Before the show starts, concert goers have the opportunity to see artist Laura Lima’s installation on view throughout the trails as part of the Boston Public Art Triennial.

About the Boston Symphony Orchestra

The Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is widely acclaimed as one of the finest orchestras in the world and is committed to creating musical experiences and humanities programs that are relevant, thought-provoking, and moving.

The BSO’s 2025-26 season breaks new ground with exciting collaborations with community partners and deep explorations of some of today’s biggest questions. One such focus, titled Where Words End: Music and the Natural World, brings together composers, scientists, poets, and visual artists to explore questions about our relationship with nature, helping us better understand ourselves, each other, and our relationship to the planet.
