Snowshoe Rentals at Blue Hills Trailside Museum

Snowshoes are available to rent during winter months on a first-come, first-served basis and can be used on any of the sanctuary trails whenever there is 6 inches of snow or more. The Green Dot Trail and the Wolcott Path begin in the North Parking Lot and are ideal for snowshoeing.

Snowshoes cannot be reserved; please call ahead to check on availability.

Cost & Rental Hours

Member: $8/hour 
Nonmember: $10/hour 

Please call 617-333-0690 in advance to check availability and confirm weather conditions.

  • Snowshoe rentals are available Wednesday–Sunday & Monday holidays.
  • Minimum rental period is one hour.

Rules & Restrictions

  • Snowshoes may be rented only for use in Blue Hills Reservation and must be returned by 3:30 pm.
  • At least one 18-year-old participant with signed rental form is required for each rental.
  • Please do not use snowshoes on pavement or rocks, as this will cause damage.
