Special Event: Saturday, April 11
Every year, as winter recedes and spring rains begin, a mass migration of frogs and salamanders travel to ponds and vernal pools to find a mate and lay eggs. For these small creatures, it’s the biggest night of the year!
Join the celebration at Arcadia’s favorite family-friendly amphibian event. With fun indoor and outdoor activities, you’ll see why we make such a big deal about Big Night.
- Watch a special live performance by the “Vernal Pool Crew”! You'll meet friendly costumed characters like the spotted salamander, fairy shrimp, and wood frog, who will perform silly skits about their unique adaptations and lives.
- Grab a net and explore a vernal pool with an educator for an up-close look at aquatic creatures.
- Experience the spring amphibian migration journey as you crawl through a human-sized salamander tunnel.
- Warm up inside while making an amphibian-themed craft
- Relax in a cozy space where you can curl up with a book about frogs and salamanders
