Blackpoll Warbler
Dendroica striata

The Blackpoll Warbler maintains a tiny and very restricted breeding population on the summit of Mount Greylock in western Massachusetts, very close to the southern terminus of its breeding range in North America. These few birds form a population of Special Concern in the state. It is also an abundant migrant in the state, especially in the fall when thousands of Blackpolls use Massachusetts as a staging area for their spectacular over-ocean migration to South America for the winter.
