Mass Audubon Hires Adrienne Frazier as New Chief Financial and Administrative Officer

Press Release
July 07, 2025

Mass Audubon, the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England, is pleased to announce the hiring of Adrienne Frazier, former Chief Financial Officer of the Sierra Club, as its new Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO).

She will replace Banks Poor, who is retiring after more than 40 distinguished years with Mass Audubon.

“Adrienne’s experience at the financial helm of a nationally renowned environmental organization and her passion for improving nonprofit financial operations and building strong teams is vital at this time of substantial growth at Mass Audubon,” said David O’Neill, Mass Audubon’s President and CEO. “Her professional acumen, combined with her familiarity with our wildlife sanctuaries and love of the outdoors, means we have the most impactful leader to help the organization address climate change, biodiversity loss, and inequitable access to nature.”

Adrienne has 15 years of finance and strategic leadership experience at Sierra Club, where she was hired as a Compliance and Financial Analyst. After being promoted several times over the years, Frazier was named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2021, where she oversaw the accounting of a $170M budget and created critical pillars in financial decision-making processes.

In this role at Mass Audubon, Adrienne will report to the President and CEO, supervising four departments (Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Capital Assets and Planning) and partner with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives and oversee compliance with government (federal and state) contracts and private grants.

“I admire Mass Audubon’s commitment to equitable and inclusive access to nature and my experience improving the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative functions and budgeting has uniquely prepared me for this position,” Frazier said. “I grew up going to Drumlin Farm and Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and now share those special places with my children, so this opportunity feels like a full circle moment in my career.”

Frazier graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned a Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from Suffolk University. Frazier currently lives in Concord, MA with her husband and two children.

She will officially join Mass Audubon on July 8.
