Trails at Rutland Brook
Explore 4 miles of trails at Rutland Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, where moderate to strenuous interlinking trails wind through cathedral-like stands of hemlocks and white pine.
While you hike, keep an eye out for signs of Moose—especially "scrapes" on young red maples!
This Sanctuary uses a blue/yellow trail marking system. Blue circle trail markers lead away from the parking lot. Yellow circle trail markers lead back to the parking lot. |
The Rutland Brook Loop trail follows the hemlock-lined brook and is a nice place to cool off in the summer.
Take the Porcupine Ledge trail—an offshoot of the Sherman Hill Loop—to see the large and impressive porcupine den at the base of a steep ledge.
