Larry Barth is often acknowledged as the preeminent contemporary bird sculptor. He has said, “Birds have been my means of exploring art, and art, in and of itself, is just as important to me as birds. Each has enhanced my understanding of the other and in my work the two become one.”

He was named Master Wildlife Artist by the Woodson Art Museum, and was awarded an unprecedented ten world championships at the annual Ward Wildfowl Carving Competition.

His work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution and the American Museum of Natural History, among other museums. His first solo exhibition was held at the Mass Audubon Museum of American Bird Art in 2003.
