Level Up Your Birding: Waterfowl on Berkshire Lakes
Description
In this two-part series, take a deep dive into a group of birds that can be overwhelming for many beginners: waterfowl. Learn about the waterfowl of the Berkshires and demystify their identification at an in-person classroom workshop at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. The next morning, test your skills in the field with a carpooling trip to look for waterfowl at several lakes in the area.
Both the classroom session and field experience are designed for beginner and intermediate birders looking to improve their skills. We will focus on observing behavior and identifying the waterfowl we can see clearly. Minimal hiking is involved in the field trip. Spotting scopes are provided, and loaner pairs of binoculars may be available.
