Birding Explorations: Gooseberry Island and Horseneck Beach

Description

Join the South East region education staff as we bird and explore Gooseberry Island and Horseneck Beach in Westport, MA.

We will spend time in both locations looking for wintering ducks and seabirds along the coast of Gooseberry Island and search Horseneck Beach for snow buntings and horned larks.

Instructions

Transportation will be provided from the North River Sanctuary leaving at 7:00 am.

This trip includes walks in varying terrains and habitats.

Wear sturdy shoes and dress in weather-appropriate layers.

Spotting scopes are welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them, or borrow a pair from us.

This is an extended program, pack a bag lunch and bring snacks and water.

Driving North or South on Rt 3:

Take Exit 27 (Rt 139, Marshfield/Pembroke). Turn onto Rt 139 east and go 3 miles to Rt 3A. Turn left (north) and follow Rt 3A for 4.6 miles to sanctuary entrance on right.
