Discover high peaks and hidden caves on this trip through Western Massachusetts and New York. This trek delves into the fascinating natural history of the area with a focus on geology and cave wildlife ecology. We'll explore natural caves, summit Massachusetts' highest peak, and visit museums, state parks, and Mass Audubuon sanctuaries to learn about how these features formed and how they support the local ecology. There will be plenty of hiking and spelunking, not to mention a dip in a waterfall pool!
Wildwood Teen Adventure Trips immerse teens entering grades 9-12 in the natural wonders of some of the New England's most beautiful areas. All trips focus on developing a love of the outdoors, but each trip takes a unique approach. A wide variety of trip options accommodate many interests and levels of outdoor experience.
Teen Adventure Trips begin with a half day of team-building and orientation at Wildwood. Groups then travel to destinations around the Northeast. Along the way, they'll participate in a variety of outdoor adventures, learn the basics of Leave No Trace camping and trekking, and meet with conservation professionals to participate in hands on environmental study or service.
Groups are small and co-ed, with two leaders and between 6-10 teens. Participants practice hands-on skills in conservation and outdoor living and develop knowledge of the region's natural history.
Wildwood's one-week trek options are appropriate for teens with all levels of tripping and camping experience and good physical fitness.
Wildwood Teen Adventure Trips are recommended for teens entering grades 9-12. For more details on trip itineraries and activities please contact the Wildwood Teen Program Coordinator at 603-899-5589
